Elaine Ferguson Strat GZ Guitars is very lucky to have such cutting edge work from up-and-coming young artist Elaine Ferguson. Elaine is a Texas native, who after graduating with a degree in English and studio art from SMU, moved to London. After having been inspired by London's creative scene, both musically and artistically, she returned to Texas and today continues to produce a body of work whose media includes traditional forms of printmaking, painting, sculpting, and now guitar-art. Elaine combines all these various media to create works that are each a unique equation. Her first exhibition was as part of a group show, comprised of mostly British artists, all of whom were friends of the family - a family which includes her aunt, Jerry Hall, (Elaine's mom is Jerry's twin sister Terry). Jerry is among London's most admired art collectors and has been the subject of paintings by many great painters including Andy Warhol, Francesco Clemente, and Lucien Freud. For the show, David Bailey, one of the greatest photographers of the 20th Century, lent photos of Elaine's uncle Mick Jagger from 1967, as well as some of his more current work featuring abstracted roses. Fellow Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood, also lent works depicting his love of American blues singers. Elaine's cousin Georgia Jagger, lent a photocollage that is an homage to Bailey. Other works by the likes of Damien Hirst, Jeremy Deller, and Jose Maria Cano, (all British art stars whose own work often relates to rock-n-roll) were also included. |
